Cluster of information technology and communication, Alp ICT was created in 2008. Initiated under the provisional name of “ICT Cluster”, it was officially named Alp ICT in April 2008. Its main mission is to create a dynamic economic benefit of ICT actors in Western Switzerland (innovative start-ups, SMEs, multinational companies and academic institutes) by activating multilateral ties between economic, political and scientific actors.

Like the platforms of BioAlps (managed by the OPI) and Micronarc (hosted by the FSRM), the Alp ICT cluster is overseen by a political body, namely the Conference of Heads of Department of Public Economy of Western Switzerland (CDEP-SO). The presidency of Alp ICT is in the canton of Geneva and its secretariat is managed by the OPI.

Before even celebrating its second birthday, Alp ICT already completed several participations in events such as TechnoArk Sierre which took place during the official launch of informatica08, Venture Night in Geneva in collaboration with Lift and CTI Start-up, the BSS in Lausanne and the Asia Venture Trip in South Korea.

For 2009, the schedule of activities for Alp ICT was well filled by its participation in major events such as TechnoArk in Sierre (January 30), Lift09 in Geneva (25-27 February) at INFORUM at hp Geneva (17-18 March), the BIMO in Delémont (20-21 March) and the Asia Venture Trip in South Korea that was renewed this year. Finally, let us not forget Telecom09 Event (5-9 October 2009 in Geneva) at which Alp ICT gave the opportunity to businesses and academic institutions active in the field of Telecommunication technologies, to present their know-how among international players in the field.
