Created in 1976 to promote the mechatronic industry of Geneva, the OPI now provides services to all SMIs and SMEs in connection with the industry of the Lake Geneva region. One of its main missions is to promote the economic development of the region by enhancing enterprises in the industrial and ict sectors.
The OPI’s wide range of services and its strategic positioning between politicians and the industrial sector made it possible to receive two mandates from the Conference of Heads of Department of Public Economy of Western Switzerland (CDEP-SO). Thus are to be the office of secretary to the BioAlps (for the life sciences sector) and Alp ICT (for the information and communication technology) clusters.
Moreover, in 2009, the OPI was also appointed the office of secretary for the LAKE GENEVA REGION, a platform created to promote the economical and touristic assets of the region both nationally and internationally. Through its involvement in numerous large scale events, it has all the tools necessary to give new impetus and provide real added value to the activities that are proposed by the OPI.
