In the presence of Geneva’s politicians, numerous representatives from the worlds of business, industry and the media, TIMELAB – Foundation of the Geneva Laboratory for Horology and Microengineering – was officially unveiled Thursday 10th June 2010, revealing an innovative organisation at the heart of the Swiss and international watchmaking landscape.
A number of political and industrial personalities attended the event: Mr. Beer, State Councillor in charge of education, culture and sports departments, Mr. Magnin, Director of Economic Affairs from the departments of regional affairs, economy and health, Mr. Torres, new president of the UFGVV, all of whom celebrated the birth of this laboratory, a centre for Certifications and Research & Development, a first in its field.
Mr. Jaton, TIMELAB director and Mr. Favre, president of the Foundation Council presented the new organisation and its framework in detail, insisting on the official and independent character of this laboratory. They also explained that the synergy between the different activities represents a considerable advantage, which will answer the needs of watch brands and the microengineering industry, as well as the worldwide demands for research and training.
